After 20 or so years of co-writing songs with my poet friend Mike Jurkovic, I started going to poetry readings and decided to try my hand at it. I finally worked up the courage to read my own work. So far, no tomatoes have flown my way. I consider that a promising start. I've been published in the CAPS Anthology (2015) and Waymark-Voices of the Valley Magazine.
Jim is the originator of the Calling All Poets Inc. Calling All Poets was a program that originated at the Howland Cultural Center, Beacon, NY when Jim was a board member there back in 1999. Along the way he partnered with Mike Jurkovic and together with the help of long time supporters move the program forward. The program obtained its own non-profit status in June of 2014 and moved from the Howland Cultural Center to The Center for Cultural Education in 2015. In August, 2016 CAPS moved its program to its new home at the Roost Gallery in New Paltz, NY. There CAPS and the Roost Gallery will work together to promote the arts. Jim, who writes poetry whenever the mood strikes him, considers himself more of a facilitator of poetry and a life long apprentice of the genre.

My work has appeared in Salon, The Good Men Project, CAPS 2016, Wallkill Valley Writers anthologies, and elsewhere. I won a CLIO for package design. I designed and ran the first multimedia stage set at Avery Fisher Hall in 1996. I engineered Yale's Climate Institute site and tools. I've had two short plays produced, one off-Broadway at the Makor, the other by Actors&Writers in upstate NY. I taught performance art at SUNY Ulster, design at Marist. I have finished a memoir about being a runaway in the sixties, and sexual assault in jail at fourteen. Looking for an agent.
